Prepare for Your PMU Appointment

Eyebrows

Lip Blush or Neutralization

Eyeliner

If you're considering getting permanent makeup, proper preparation is key to achieving the best results. Follow these guidelines to ensure a successful and satisfying experience.

1. Avoid Certain Medications

In the days leading up to your appointment, avoid medications that may thin the blood, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. These can increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure. If you're on prescription medications, consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes.

2. No Waxing or Tweezing

Refrain from waxing or tweezing your eyebrows at least a week before your appointment. The PMU artist will work with your natural brow shape, and having some hair in place allows for a more accurate assessment of the desired outcome.

3. Moisturize and Hydrate

Well-hydrated skin provides an ideal canvas for the PMU procedure. Drink plenty of water and moisturize your eyebrow area regularly in the days leading up to your appointment. Avoid excessive sun exposure, which can cause irritation.

4. Follow Aftercare Instructions

You will be provided with an aftercare bag, containing detailed instructions to promote proper healing and ensure long-lasting results. Follow these instructions carefully, including avoiding water exposure, direct sunlight, and certain skincare products during the initial healing period.

5. Plan for Downtime

While the healing time varies from person to person, plan for some downtime after the procedure. You may experience redness and slight swelling, but these effects usually subside within a few days.

6. Be Realistic About Results

Permanent makeup is a form of tattooing, and while it can enhance your features significantly, it's essential to have realistic expectations. Discuss your expectations openly with your PMU artist during the consultation part of the appointment to ensure you're both on the same page.

Lip Blush:& Neutralization

Hydration:

  • Keep your lips well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days before the procedure. Hydrated lips tend to heal better.

Exfoliation:

  • Gentle exfoliation of the lips a few days before the procedure can help remove dead skin cells and create a smoother canvas for the pigment.

Avoid Sun Exposure:

  • Minimize sun exposure on your face, particularly your lips, to prevent sunburn or irritation. Use sunscreen if necessary.

Eyeliner & Lash Line Enhancement

Remove Eye Makeup Thoroughly:

  • On the day of your PMU eyeliner appointment, arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes. Remove all eye makeup, including mascara and eyeliner, using a gentle, non-alcoholic makeup remover. Clean, bare skin provides a better canvas for the PMU procedure.

Avoid Caffeine and Stimulants:

  • To minimize any potential twitching or involuntary movements during the PMU eyeliner procedure, consider avoiding caffeine and stimulants on the day of your appointment. This can help ensure a steady hand and precise application.

Plan for Sunglasses:

  • After the PMU eyeliner procedure, you may experience some sensitivity to light. Plan to wear sunglasses when leaving the studio to protect your eyes from sunlight and other bright lights.
